Home-Start Goole and District Volunteer Training

Volunteer training

Every Home-Start Volunteer must attend the Volunteer Preparation Course which consists of ten sessions covering topics such as:

  • The Role of the Volunteer
  • How Home-Start helps families
  • Values and Attitudes
  • Family Life and Supporting Parents
  • Confidentiality
  • Communication Skills
  • Safeguarding Children
  • Home Visiting
  • Being a Volunteer
The Volunteer Prep Course is held every September and runs for 10 sessions over 5 weeks:
Tuesdays 9.30am – 3pm and Thursdays 6–9pm.
Volunteers must attend all 10 sessions.

The course is a lot of fun with no written work or tests and prospective volunteers need to attend all ten sessions which are held at The Courtyard in Goole.

Travel expenses for the course and for visiting Home-Start families are reimbursed and the cost of a DBS check is covered.
